ABOUT US

OUR MISSION
Bringing the past into the present for the future.

We fulfill our mission by:
~ Holding monthly meetings and events on a variety of historical topics and genealogical subjects.
~ Publishing our quarterly journal, The Bone Rattler.
~ Maintaining a research center that provides access to books, special collections, online resources, and other valuable sources and provide assistance to those who visit our research center.
~ Collect, organize, and preserve genealogical materials that are available in our research center and The Bone Rattler.

SCGHS is made up of dedicated board members, volunteers and community supporters. Our purpose is to aid in the preservation of Family Bible Records, Military Records, Cemetery Records and other genealogical and historical records. We want to promote interest and research in the study of History and Genealogy.

We cooperate with other Societies as much as is practical to collect and preserve data relating to North Carolina and North Carolina families, particularly, but not limited to Swain, Macon, Jackson and Graham Counties.
